Buying a bike that isn't a project is a lot more of a lottery than buying a box of bits for peanuts. An MOT conveys an air of usability that may or may not be deserved. When this bike came up on gumtree and turned out to be just down the road I thought I'd take look.
The bike was in reasonable condition, the only concerns were are a crack in the fairing around the headlight and a very rusty looking shock absorber.
Otherwise, the engine sounded great and pulled well, the handling was instantly confident and it was surprisingly comfortable. So I took the plunge. With a good 9 months to run on the MOT I didn't do much to the bike until that MOT ran out.
